Hygieia for macOS
The agreement between you and the developer of Hygieia. Written to be read, not to be skipped.
The short version
Hygieia is licensed to you, not sold. It moves files to the Trash on your instruction, and other than the File Shredder, nothing it does is permanent. It comes with no warranty, and you are responsible for your own backups. If a payment goes wrong, contact us and we will sort it out.

Hygieia is licensed, not sold. A Pro licence grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the software on Macs you own or control, for as long as the licence is valid.

The free tier is available without a licence and without an account. It includes the Caches and Developer tools without limit, and Smart Scan for three runs a month.

Hygieia identifies files it believes are safe to remove and shows them to you. You decide what is removed. Items the app has not vouched for are marked Review and are never selected on your behalf.
Cleaning moves files to the Trash. It does not delete them. If a clean was wrong, the files are still there, and every clean offers a 30-second Undo that puts them back where they came from.
The File Shredder is the exception. It overwrites files in place and they cannot be recovered by us, by you, or by any recovery tool. That tool says so on screen before it runs. Use it deliberately.

Pro is sold in two places, and which one applies depends on where you got the app.
Prices are shown at checkout in your own currency before anything is charged.
As a consumer in the EU you have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase. That right ends only if you expressly ask for the content to be delivered immediately and acknowledge losing it — which is why Hygieia asks you to confirm exactly that, in the app, before it will open checkout. If you do not confirm it, checkout does not proceed.
If you have any question about a charge, write to us and we will deal with it rather than argue about it.

Hygieia is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer makes no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Keep backups. This is a disk utility. It has been built carefully and is extensively tested, but no utility that removes files should be the only thing standing between you and data loss. Time Machine or an equivalent is a condition of using this software sensibly.
Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer, or excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability arising from your use of Hygieia is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Scanning happens on your Mac. Hygieia does not transmit file contents, file names or scan results. The full detail, including what the licence check and the optional crash reporting do send, is in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

You may stop using Hygieia at any time by deleting it. A Pro licence may be terminated if it is shared publicly or used to redistribute the software; if that happens you will be told why, and refunded pro rata where the law requires it.

These terms may change as the software does. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Continuing to use Hygieia after a change means accepting it.

These terms are governed by Belgian law, and the courts of Belgium have jurisdiction — without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country of residence.
